Young Scot, YouthLink Scotland and the Scottish Youth Parliament are asking young people what they think should be included in the review of Hate Crime Legislation in Scotland. At the moment someone who commits a crime motivated by hate towards a group or person because of disability, sexual orientation, race, religion or faith can face a harsher sentence under the law. Should age or other protected characteristics like gender be included in this?

We will be running an interactive workshop on 7th October 2017 in Edinburgh for young people age 11 – 21 to gather their thoughts on this. There will be a light lunch provided and travel expenses will be covered. Young people from all backgrounds and across Scotland are welcome to attend independently or with support. Please let us know if you require any additional help to attend.

We especially would like to hear from young people who have experienced, witnessed or heard about hate crimes in their communities. Young people who volunteer can also receive 500 Young Scot Rewards points for taking part.
